From Moodboard to Market: How I Used Midjourney and ChatGPT to Build a Full Visual Campaign in 72 Hours

It started with a blank page—and a countdown.
Three days. That’s all I had to concept, create, and deliver a full visual marketing campaign for a niche e-commerce client launching a spring capsule collection. The timeline was brutal. The creative brief was vague. And my internal team? Just me.
I’ve worked in agencies, in-house, on sets, and across time zones—but I’d never built an entire campaign this fast… until I brought AI into the process.
This is how I used ChatGPT and Midjourney—strategically, not sloppily—to go from blank moodboard to a branded, launch-ready campaign in just 72 hours. Not a “magic button” solution. A creative collaboration between human strategy and machine speed.
And it changed everything about how I work now.

The Brief: “We Need Something That Feels Premium but Playful”
That was it. That was the whole creative direction.
The client, a boutique apparel brand, wanted a series of visuals for social media, paid ads, and website hero banners. Their in-house resources were tapped. The only assets they had were product photos—flat lays and a handful of studio shots. No styled shoots. No video.
Usually, this is where the creative process slows down. We brainstorm. We dig for references. We moodboard. We pitch ideas. It takes days before anything visual even gets built.
This time, I did it differently.
Hour 1–12: Concepting with ChatGPT
I started with ChatGPT 4 as my co-strategist.
I prompted it with the product descriptions, the brand’s mission, and a rough competitor landscape. Then I asked it to help brainstorm visual themes and storylines that could bridge “premium” and “playful” without drifting into cliché.
It gave me 10 concepts. I refined three. Then asked it to write mock campaign taglines, creative directions, and a short narrative for each.
One concept popped:
“Elevated Everyday: Style You Can Live In.”
Suddenly I wasn’t looking at a blank page—I had a creative direction. A hook. A mood. A voice.
ChatGPT then helped me write scene prompts for visuals:
• “A young woman sipping coffee on a minimalist rooftop garden, city skyline blurred, golden hour light.”
• “Midcentury living room with soft linens, pastel tones, and structured garments draped on a chair—inviting but intentional.”
• “Overhead shot of scattered travel items: passport, sunglasses, sleek sneakers, and a folded capsule outfit on textured stone.”
These became my Midjourney prompts.

Hour 12–48: Art Directing with Midjourney
Midjourney is often treated like a novelty—people make surreal art or joke memes. But with well-written prompts, it becomes your creative studio at scale.
I used the Juggernaut Flux Pro model with controlled ratios and focused on generating scene-setters and hero visuals that conveyed mood, not literal product shots.
Within six hours, I had a batch of 40+ images. From that, I shortlisted 12 that matched the tone, palette, and brand feel.
I brought those into Canva and Figma to composite with the real product images. ChatGPT helped me write snappy taglines and micro-copy for the ads and social posts, based on the concept it had helped generate.
The result? A full campaign kit with:
• 5 static ad variations
• 8 branded lifestyle images
• 3 carousel storyboards for Instagram
• 1 homepage hero banner
• 1 downloadable lookbook concept
No late nights. No burnout. Just flow.

Hour 48–72: Polish, Package, Deliver
The last 24 hours were what you’d expect: polish, export, QA. But I wasn’t playing catch-up. I had space to iterate.
I even used ChatGPT to write a short internal deck explaining the visual direction and CTA testing recommendations—so the client’s team had context, not just files.
They were thrilled. Not just because it was fast—but because it felt custom, aligned, and premium without looking like every Canva template in circulation.
Why This Matters (And What You Can Do Next)
Let me be clear: I don’t believe AI replaces creativity. It replaces bottlenecks.
It won’t give you taste or instinct or vision. That’s you.
But it will help you execute faster, test more, and spend more time on the ideas that actually matter.
If you’re a creative, a founder, or a marketing lead spinning your wheels trying to make one campaign
stretch across 10 platforms—you don’t need more hours. You need smarter tools.
And if you’re not sure where to start?
That’s literally what we do at Donarus.
